From the top of the tower, a large chain falls down from the ceiling right towards Hirase. A large clamp at the end wraps around Hirase’s neck and before she or anyone else can react it begins to drag her up the tower into the sky. She frantically grabs a hold of the clamp to keep herself from choking as she's raised up higher and higher.
On the roof of the tower sits Krampusuke, holding a strange fishing pole that has a chain in the place of a fishing line. He lifts Hirase up out of the tower with the fishing pole and dangles her in the air, flailing her around like a toy. On the other end of the roof of the tower sits a large, almost cartoon-like cannon with the barrel facing directly up towards the sky. After flailing Hirase around in the sky a bit, he eventually lets her dangle right above the cannon’s opening.
With a press of a button on his modified fishing pole, the clamp around Hirase’s neck releases and drops her right into the cannon. After falling into the barrel of the cannon, the shaft of the cannon itself begins to topple forward, falling into position against one of the rooks of the tower. Behind the cannon appears Krampusuke again, this time holding his signature pitchfork. The tips of the pitchfork begin to glow a bright crimson as he brings them up against the fuse connected to the cannon, lighting it ablaze almost immediately.
Inside the cannon, Hirase struggles around trying to wriggle her way out of it. But before she has a chance to, the flame snaking its way down the length of the fuse reaches up to the cannon and triggers it. In an instant Hirase is launched up into the air, soaring across the sky.
As she soars across the winter landscape, she is the first of her peers to see just what lays beyond the vast frozen canyons they had found themselves trapped in. As she comes crashing down to the ground floor below, rather than smashing against a solid force and dying on impact, she actually breaks through the thin ice into the depth below.
In the frozen lake below the thin layer of ice above, Hirase finds herself in her home element. Although it has been a while since she had last been in a large body of water that wasn’t just a swimming pool, she instantly takes to swimming. She rises up towards the opening in the ice that she had made when crashing down earlier. The light of the sun just as it was beginning to set behind the mount shone through the small hole in the ice, reflecting all sorts of brilliant, warm colors.
But just as she’s about to get up to the surface, she notices a dark shape looming around the hole. As she gets closer she immediately recognizes it as a shark. The shape lunges in her general direction, and that’s when she realizes that it’s not just a shark, it’s a mechanical shark. Made of steel and with large, bear trap-like teeth chomping at her in an attempt to strike fear into the lifeguard’s heart.
Knowing that even if she were to escape through the opening in the ice the mechanical sharp would start chomping right into her flesh, she devises a nice plan. Rather than swimming towards the surface, she swerves off to the left and begins swimming forward as fast as she can. All the while, she tries to hold her breath as best as she can. But even being an expert swimmer or lifeguard doesn’t give you gills.
As she takes a glance behind her to see if the mechanical shark is still chasing after her. In that moment she notices that not only is the shark chasing after her still, but there also appears to be several more. At least half a dozen, maybe more. Among the group of mechanical beasts, one is much larger than the others. And a small glass dome rests at the top of the largest one, with something moving around inside it. On a second glance back, Hirase notices that inside the dome is Krampusuke, with his paws on a little control panel, controlling the sharks.
When she looks back at what’s in front of her she immediately notices the edge of the frozen lake rapidly approaching. So she begins to rise up from the water towards the surface. She gets herself into position to treat her body like a battering ram and smashes through the thin layer of ice on the surface and launches herself up into the air again. There she crashes down to the cold, snowy ground just outside the frozen lake.
Before she has a chances to relax, several large shapes emerge from the lake. The mechanical sharks all had decided to jump out of the water as well to continue chasing her. Hirase lifts up her arms in a last ditch effort to shield herself, but the mechanical sharks all crash around her instead of on top of her. The mechanical beasts chomp their large sets of steel teeth, but outside of water there’s nothing they can do to hurt her.
Despite surviving it all, as Hirase attempts to get up she quickly realizes she can’t. The cold air and the even cold water that covers her body from head to toe is too much for her body to handle. She closes her eyes for one last time as the snowfall begins to cover her, almost erasing her from existence as it slowly piles on top of her, obscuring her from view.
