Intellectually, Shimakage knows that Marugou is right - that if anyone were to off him, it's because he's making a scene, but the fact that not one, but two people have cast doubt upon his words is absolutely infuriating. Slowly, almost rhythmically, he whacks the club against the floor, eyes narrowing in Osatsu's direction. He does, however, manage to settle down a little the more Marugou speaks, and when she pulls out the photograph, Shimakage shuffles over to her podium and leans over her shoulder in order to get a better look at the footprints. Invading personal space? Check. Making her shortness extremely obvious? Check. And then he shuffles back over to his own podium, giving the golf club a little twirl on his way.

"Um... Marugou-san, if I may... All those who participated in the game we had were me, Ootani-san, Osatsu-san, Utazawa-san, Suzuki-san, Yamato-san,Yanagi-san, and Nagareboshi-san. Out of everyone who participated, Yamato-san, Yanagi-san, and Ootani-san remained outside while everyone else went inside."
She had given a cautious gaze towards Shimakage and Yanagi before continuing.
"Um- since it seems that Yanagi-san did in fact go inside, despite a little later- Yamato-san and Ootani-san were the only two who did remain outside until the announcement."
She had sighed, now with that out of the way- she could continue on without much caution.
"However- going by what Hirase-san, and what Osatsu-san had said- if the actual attack happened before 2:45 PM- then we do have to overlook the game alibis and try to look at alibis before that time."
"That being said- um. What sort of timeframe would we want to look at? Should we state who all we seen before 2:45 PM?"

Oh.., he spaced out during the beginning, that was bad. He couldn't even get much notes from the talk but that was alright since he was able to help contribute with.. He should've known there was something wrong about that-- but Ootani figured she just wasn't ready to interact with people, he didn't blame her, really. Though -- now that he thinks on it, maybe he should've rammed the door down. After that, he starts taking down notes.

Post by Marugou Madoka on Jan 1, 2018 16:56:19 GMT -5
It didn't happen often that Shimakage and Madoka were standing close to another, but whenever it happened, she was always lowkey envious of how much taller he was compared to her. If only she'd gotten a few more inches, then she wouldn't feel nearly as much of a midget than she does right now.
"Yeah, a shoe check will definitely help us out. Yanagi, would you mind going around and checking your shoes against everyone here, then? Once you're done, you can simply announce what you found out - until then, we can discuss other things", the detective nodded at first to Shimakage, before turning around to face Yanagi. And only a few moments afterwards, was her attention already directed elsewhere - which happened to be Isayama. So only these people participated? Albeit Ootani did reveal that Tenshin was supposed to play along as well...
"Actually, I think I know the reason why Tenshin didn't join you in your game. You see, there was a note on her table. Made a picture of it, in case we need the handwriting for another check", Madoka piped up shortly afterwards, producing forth another photography that displayed what she'd just explained. Naturally, she would read the actual message outloud and not let their poor eyes be strained to make out anything:"It said the following:'Dear Tenshin, I've had my eyes on you for a while now. Please come to the Foyer around 1:00PM to come meet me. There might be a few people there, so just in case, I'll be sitting by the fireplace. Regards, Your Secret Admirer'."
At least she could supress the urge to roll her eyes yet again this time, unlike the first time she read it. The detective concluded this particular evidence so:"So, in case someone was in the foyer at some point and saw someone in there - especially sitting by the fireplace -, now would be a good time to speak up."
"Before I go over my own alibi, there's some more evidence I like to share. When I was riding the eastern lift, I saw a strange, wavy line on the snowy fields below me. Turns out that they were made by a snowboard that was leaning against the panels on the other eastern lift station. The underside was still wet and had some mud on it. Someone was definitely snowboarding this afternoon and it's possible that it was the culprit. After all, wouldn't it be great for us all to assume that the culprit must've been at the center area, when in fact, they were at the eastern side and thus, trying to make an alibi for themself?"
Granted, it could still be a 'doing wrong activities at the wrong time' thing, but... Well, she wouldn't hold her horses on that one.
"Oh, actually, who were the first three students who found the body? It would be good to know, so we can exclude you out of the suspect pool", she asked and glanced around, before harrumphing and finally getting her own alibi out in the open:"As for my alibi, I did my guard shift until 12:45 pm, before I went on my merry way to find some kind of entertainment. Soooo, I went to the game room and met Komatsuzaki there. We began to play checkers shortly after 1 pm and have been there until the body announcement rang. Additionally, Osatsu came roughly a minute or two after Tenshin died and... well, hid underneath a chair. Not gonna lie, Osatsu, that wasn't the best spot you could've picked."

Throughout the trial, Krampusuke was dozing off in the corner. Until eventually he awoke suddenly with a shock and began waving his signature pitchfork in the air.
With that, he went back to his deep slumber.

He.., still didn't like that fact. What kind of rotten luck did he have to have to be one of the first ones to find Tenshin's body? Frowning, Ootani begins tapping his pencil against his sketchbook before looking at Marugou. He switches his frown for a nervous smile due to his next statement. Sure, it was sketched up and he had a good clue as to who the footprints belonged to but... The air of tension was starting to get to him. So he didn't want to really mess with it in the case he accidentally got something wrong. Quickly flipping to the page with the sketched out frootprint, Ootani leans over both his and a Karina's podiums, with his left arm holding the sketchbook. He stretched his arm out to give Marugou-san a better look. Though, while he did want her to take a look, there was someone else he needed to show the footprint to.

The shrine maiden had raised her hand, waiting for the class to have her attention.
"Um- Shimakage-san.... If I may, I might have a explanation for where whom you mentioned were at, before the murder- that is. If it may be alright for me to speak about it"
She had waited Shimakage's response before continuing.

Takane narrowed his eyes at Shimakage and folded his arms. The question had annoyed him, and the irritated tone in his voice as he replied vocalized as much.
"The total amount of golf clubs in this place that we can't leave and no one else can enter now has one less golf club. No matter how many there might be, there's one less. It's not mine, but it's not about mine or not, it would be like if someone burned a book in the library, you would lament its loss even if there was still an entire library's worth of books leftover. That, or...whatever might be your own equivalent."
After he finished explaining himself to Shimakage, he leaned over to look at the footprint that was being shown to him and asked about by Ootani, nodded, and spoke once again—this time much more neutral.
"Those are mine, since that's where I came from after I first found the body. I needed to find others and alert them, and while I was looking around trying to see if anyone was around I saw you at the field, so I ran there. Is that all?"

Frowning quietly, Yanagi stays silent- as soon as Krampusuke shot down his idea for comparing shoes, he bit his lip and stayed content to listen and watch, careful to take note of any information he needed before, finally, Ishida confirmed that the footprints were his. At that moment, Yanagi looks up, before quietly reaching down and taking his shoe off.
There's a moment where he considers his actions before he throws the shoe to Ishida's podium, hoping to god that he wouldn't hit him in the head. He doesn't, mercifully, but he does look expectantly at him.
"Ishida-san," he murmurs, tilting his head curiously. "Would you compare my shoe to yours? Just so we can confirm, for real, that you're telling the truth."

Isayama had given a friendly smile in appreciation of Shimakage permission to speak. With a deep breath, she had began to speak.
"I guess I should start from the beginning then..."
"Me, Osatsu-san and Ootani-san were speaking for a time until 12:30 PM... I think it was- that was when we parted and I gone to make lunch for all three of us, so I went to the kitchen."
"I continued cooking until around 1 PM I believe- that was when Utazawa-san had walked into the kitchen. We exchanged niceties- but nothing too long as Utazawa-san had thrown away his trash, and then left to go about his own business."
She had stayed silent for only a moment.
"Um... After that I, continued to prepare lunch. Until, about ten minutes later when Nagareboshi-san came in. We chatted a bit and she offered me help with preparing lunch."
"Around 1:35 PM, we both exited out of the kitchen and went to the dining room, we had set up the table and not too long after did Osatsu-san and Ootani-san come in, but through the other entrance."
"We all started eating together, and after not too long, did we come up with the idea and plan to have a game of Hide-and-Seek. The intention was to try to get everyone to play- but unfortunately that did not happen."
"All four of us decided together on who would invite who."
"Nagareboshi-san would invite Komatsuzuki-san, Shimakage-san, and Marugou-san.Osatsu-san would invite Utazawa-san, Ishida-san, and Yanagi-san."
"I would invite Hirase-san and Suzuki-san. Ootani-san would invite Tenshin-san and Yamato-san"
"So. After two, Nagareboshi-san was the first to leave the dinning room, then soon after all three of us- me, Osatsu-san and Ootani-san left as well, but I stayed behind a little to clean up the dishes."
"It was a little after 2:10 when I knocked on Hirase-san's door and found out she was not there. After which- I went to Suzuki-san and they had opened their door, I asked if they wanted to join in on the game, but they declined at first."
"At 2:26 PM, Suzuki-san opened their door again and came right up to me and said what I believe to been a change of mind, or heart."
"After that we walked together to where the hide and seek group would meet..."
"The rest is history- I think."

But then he turns his attention to Isayama, and as she talks, Shimakage finds himself growing annoyed. He knows she means well - that she's probably the nicest person here and it would be wrong of him to snap at her (assuming, of course, that he cared for right and wrong) - but she's being infuriatingly cryptic, and he breathes an annoyed sigh through his teeth.

"Ah- I apologize then Shimakage-san. I should not have assumed what would be guessed of what happened from where I left off."
She had taken a deep breath and sighed, giving herself a minute to breathe and remember back.
"To answer your inquiries- at 2:45 PM, me and Suzuki-san left the lodge, and as per planned by myself, Nagareboshi-san, Ootani-san, and Osatsu-san, we meet up at with each other outside the lodge."
"From what I can remember, all those who we were able to get together were Utazawa-san, Yanagi-san, Yamato-san, and Suzuki-san. Including those who were giving invites- me, Ootani-san, Nagareboshi-san, and Osatsu-san were also there."
"When everyone was together, we went over the rules and tried to decide who the oni was- which Ootani-san volunteered to be 'it', and then once Ootani-san began to count to one-hundred, everyone left."
"Not much long after- maybe a minute or two, I went back inside the lodge, along with all those who participated except for Ootani-san, Yamato-san, and Yanagi-san."
"I hid behind the Christmas tree, in the foyer, from around 2:47 PM to all the way to the announcement."
She had looked to the ground, in shame, but had still done her best to give a answer for her blunder from earlier.
"I am sorry Shimakage-san, I admit I made a mistake- a regrettable one. I did not notice Yanagi-san had come inside a bit later then others. I was wrong to assume that he had not come inside."
She had rubbed her arm, and had continued to look down for a moment, before her face could look up again and focused her attention on Shimakage.
"I hope this could answer the questions you had for me."
Her gaze then shifted to the class.
"Um- if I may, about Ishida-san..."
She had given a nervous smile.
"I may be in the wrong place to say this, but- maybe we should give him the benefit of the doubt...?"
"Um-"
"What I mean to say is- I think I can believe that Ishida-san was one of those who found the body first."
"I mean- unless Hirase-san was counted as one of the first, but in her case, Tenshin-san was alive and still able to move- so... I do not think Krampusuke-sensei would count that- unless Hirase-san caught a glance at Tenshin-san's body; while on the lift."
"We also have to consider that- no one else besides Ootani-san, Yamato-san, and Ishida-san have claimed to find the body first..."
"I could be wrong but... If anyone else could please speak now, if you did in fact find the body before the announcement, it would be dearly appreciated."
She had tried to give a gentle, comforting smile to her peers as she had spoken the last sentence.

Post by Marugou Madoka on Jan 3, 2018 14:39:19 GMT -5
"... Stupid gremlin."
Madoka glared at Krampusuke who was hindering their progress in finding out who the culprit was. Since when was it not allowed to leave their podiums? Thus far, he hadn't really complained about it - therefore, she can only assume that it's entirely possible that matching their footprints with each other might make this case too 'easy' for them and thus, wouldn't please their 'audience'. What an arbitrary action to take...
As she crossed her arms before her chest after scoffing at the black mascot, she focused on the debates at hand. There was a lot to take in and Madoka still didn't have a clear picture of what exactly went down. Sure, she had her theories, but none of them were this steadfast that she'd place her utter confidence in it.
Still, there was one thing that Madoka had to interject in, which made her face Shimakage:"No, we can't clear Hirase based on that, Shimakage. Remember the snowboard and trail that I mentioned a short while ago? She could've used that to get to the eastern area again."
Albeit she could've - and maybe should've - explained herself more, the detective wanted to listen to Ishida and Isayama talk - and when the former mentioned something about book burning, her brown eyes glanced towards Ootani and Osatsu alike, face as blank as she can muster it up to be. (Oh, if only the golfer knew.)
It wasn't until Isayama was finished with her alibi that Madoka spoke up again:"Shimakage's right - we can't be sure if Ishida was actually one of the first discoverers. Bringing up the point he made near the beginning of this trial; it's likely that our culprit had an accomplice."
Her eyes fell on Hirase and Ishida alike as she continued on after a short pause:"And I believe that it might've been the two of you. At least, I am fairly convinced that Hirase must've been involved in this murder, because what she claims doesn't match with the evidence. Hirase, you claimed to have followed an injured Tenshin to the lift, however there's one thing that is extremely odd about it; if that's the case, why were the two footprints leading out of the woods a larger and a smaller pair? I highly doubt that either you or Tenshin have big feet, so your claims don't make sense. It doesn't help that you seemed to have been the only one trapped over at the eastern area, as far as I can tell. So I believe that it was you who used the snowboard to ride down the mountain."
Shifting her weight from one leg to the other, her arms were placed on her lips, eyes slightly furrowed down. Seems like she wasn't quite done yet:"... And even if you or Tenshin have actually large feet, it doesn't take away from the fact that only two people left the woods - not three. So someone must've been carried away - and I really doubt that it could've been anyone but the victim herself."
"Naturally, it's still possible that the other party wasn't Ishida but someone who participated in the game, but right now, too much is pointing to the two of you - nevermind that Tenshin's and Ishida's secrets got swapped up. You can't deny that you didn't have a motive, Ishida - no matter how much you claim to have met up with her and agreed that the both of you keep these secrets. Actually, I find it a little bit odd - why not simply swap them back? After all, if either of you blurted the other's secret out, it's not like they could prove it if they didn't have the card in their possession."

Post by Hirase Marin on Jan 3, 2018 18:51:41 GMT -5
"Snowboard, Marugou-san? I'm afraid I don't follow. It could be from any time today. And you probably saw my footprints leaving the woods because I got cold waiting out in the woods for the lift and went back to my research lab to warm up and look for something I could use to help Tenshin-san with."
Hirase shrugged. Everyone knew how well that worked out, given that they were discussing Tenshin's murder.
"Hmmm... I see what you're saying about there be two assailants, but why would they be working together? I'm assuming all of our secrets were things that would impact us in personal ways, so I doubt any of us would really feel all that inclined to help other people with their cards. Besides, only the one to land the killing blow would get the reward, right? I may be a lifeguard, but I'm no martyr, and I seriously doubt any of you are, either. Mmm'kay, so what then if they weren't working together intentionally?"
With a flourish, Hirase snapped her fingers into finger guns. Gotta keep it lighthearted!
"My theory is that our first assailant, let's say it was Ishida-kun, hit Tenshin-san on the head and then left, thinking she was dead. The second person hit her later for reasons unknown. Ishida-kun did not land the killing blow, but I am almost certain he made an attempt of Tenshin-san's life."
She paused and then smiled. "Just something to keep in mind for later, okay?"

Post by Ishida Takane on Jan 3, 2018 21:09:18 GMT -5
The suddenly thrown shoe doesn't make Takane fall over in shock, but he takes a half-step back and tenses up when it comes his way. He looks down at it, back up to its thrower, and back down to it.
"...Elegant. I'll take care of this after I'm done defending myself against the accusations that everyone here seems to be leveling at me."
He looks to Marugou with furrowed brows and a frown on his face, as if he's dissatisfied with something. She'd just finished accusing him of being involved in the murder, and he doesn't much appreciate it. His reply is curt, and as he speaks his eyes flicker to Hirase for a second.
"It's an interesting theory, one that I could see holding water. However, it's flawed. I wasn't one of those two. The murder weapon is entirely too conspicuous—it's asking to paint a target on my back, and I'm sure that that was the intention. As for my motive, it's one that we all share. Everyone in this room received something, but mine is falsified anyways. Why would I care about who had it? I wouldn't care if everyone in this room saw it. It was for that reason that I never asked for my card back. I just found it annoying to think that she would toss something like that in the trash, and cause me this trouble. In regards to whether or not I really helped discover the body? I'm not the only one suspect, but I am the only listed suspect to make the claim that I discovered the body. Add the fact that a total of three of us made the claim, and it makes no sense to doubt that I'm lying about being one of the three. Two others would immediately rip that lie to pieces. Would anyone like to contest the claim that it was me, Ootani-kun, and Yamato-san who discovered the body? Speak up now."
He delivers a glare to the room around him, and picks up the shoe in front of him.
"In the meantime, I'll match this. There's no need to hide that."
As proof, he touches the sole of the shoe to one of his own, showing the similar size. Takane puts the shoe down next to him, not about to throw it across the circle the way Yanagi did.
"Yanagi-kun's alibi is matched by only one person, really. I can't sit easy trusting it. That aside, he himself confirmed that the footprints match his own shoe size. Focusing on me is a good way to get suspicion off of him."

Well, the shoe thing went.. Nowhere. He had hoped that the footprints wouldn't match, or that Ishida would be so uncomfortable with declaring that he would throw himself into more suspicion- but no, all that happened was it narrowed the spotlight onto both of them.
Now, down a shoe and rather uncomfortable, Yanagi shifted to rest his chin in his palm, peering quietly at the group as conversation continued- the feeling of uselessness was back more than ever, and part of him wished he had investigated more. However, he had no time to sulk before a (metaphorical) finger was pointed in his direction, and he blinked, dazed. Part of him wanted to interject, to ask for the shoe back- but, no, there were more pressing things at hand, like the fact that he was being accused.
"I... I mean, plenty of people can confirm that I was playing the game with them- and while no one saw me go inside except for Shimakage-san, he still has no reason to lie about where I was," he mutters, setting his shoulders and peering coolly at Ishida.
"Also, if we're going to talk motive-" he pauses, sparing Madoka a glance- however fleeting- before continuing. "I have no point of reference. Whatever was on my card, I have no way of knowing whether it was true or not, so why would I kill for it?" He shrugs, quietly, tapping his fingers with a quiet frown. "... I realize I may not have the most solid alibi, but I also... If I'm remembering the timeline correctly, I couldn't have hurt Tenshin-san, right?"
