Karina raised an eyebrow at Shimakage’s first response, but ultimately shrugged it off. If he wanted to be that way then fine. She wasn't going to force him. The only part about his response that actually bothered her was how he didn’t seem to appreciate her asking nicely. She just wanted to clear him, but okay, whatever! She doesn't care!
She opened her mouth to propose a theory when Osatsu spoke up, and she immediately went silent. It was the way they spoke and coughed that made Karina concerned. She wanted to say something, but didn't know what. Then they said their awful joke and her head started to pound. She couldn't tell whether that was a joke or not, but she took it seriously. Whatever was said after that point she wasn't listening anymore. She dwelled only on that 'joke' and Karina felt a surge of emotions, but she tried very hard to conceal it. She bit her lips hard and made fists until her knuckles turned white. She really wishes she didn't care.
Only when the others started to look and address her specifically did she snap out of it. She stared straight ahead blankly for a few minutes before finally speaking in a voice just above a whisper.
Instead of sticking her leggie out for Ootani to check, Karina swiftly untied her ribbon and held it up for everyone to see. The ribbon was mostly frayed and wrinkled. It has definitely seen better days. She looked pained, but a dull laugh still escaped her lips. Her eyes didn't look anywhere else but at the ribbon.
Karina's briefly looked at Isayama, but she didn't respond to her.

He almost missed the blank stare. But-- Ootani managed to turn his attention to her just in time to notice how..., not okay she looked.
....Well, now he was concerned for not one-- but two people in this trial room! Not good.
As Karina unties the ribbon-- a frown appears on his face once he catches just how... wrinkly and frayed it was. He allows himself to wonder if there was a way to fix it- later that was.
Hesitantly--- he gently pats the ballerina's shoulder with his left hand-- giving a small smile before looking at the others.
"I would say that clears Karamazov-san, wouldn't it?" He pauses before looking through his notepad, frowning even more than he did before, "....Marugou-san? You were in the Lab when the three of us came back-- what did you happen to find in there?"

Isayama had looked to Krampusuke, hoping that the animated toy could help them.
"Krampusuke-sensei, are you sure that you did not hurt Mukizo-san? Maybe you forgot...?"
She probably already knows the answer, but she could not help to ask.
"It seems like everyone here is innocent..."

After making his joke, Utazawa decided that...a trial was not exactly the best place for him to be playing around, despite how funny it was. Ha. It was only minutes after his fun and games that he stopped listening completely, only checking in every so often to make sure no one was accusing him of this bullshit or whatever.
Huh? Something about a cloth?
"Yo! I know where that's from-- probably."
Once again, he makes a strangely confident pose, though feeling a bit nervous that he was actually offering helpful information rather than a fucking meme.
"It was from the game room. Like, that dude" He points to Suzuki, "and I checked the game room even though I was there with everyone for the party. Six of the chairs has coloured cloths, matchin' the colours of the clue game or some shit! But the seventh one was missing it's cloth. It was like that all night but..."
He thoughtfully rubbed his chin, hoping it would make him seem more...intelligent. "I remember that...before tonight, the last time I was in the game room that chair also had a cloth. Dunno the colour."

🐧 --- Ahh, it would have been easier to go along with the crowd, wouldn't it? While Osatsu would have liked to go and take the simple route, there was something off in all of that. Something that's been nagging at them at the sight of the ribbon. They wouldn’t have been able to keep still if they just let it pass over everyones' heads-- They stare intently at Karina. After saying that, they slid their gaze over to where Marugou stood, waving a hand before addressing her. --- 🐧

Krampusuke gives a little, cute laugh in response to Isayama's question.
After clearing his throat, he reads off one of the rules provided at the start of the killing game.
Rule #4: Neither Krampusuke nor Santako are allowed to directly interfere with the students unless the student in question is subject for punishment.

Post by Marugou Madoka on Dec 14, 2017 14:36:47 GMT -5
Although Madoka got her questions answered, she remained quiet for awhile. The detective didn't want to necessarily interrupt someone while they were talking, though inbetween all of that, she did manage to say something - which was directed at Shimakage, no less:"True, I'm a detective, but I don't deal with homicides. My speciality lies in exposing corrupted businesses and frauds - so criminals like you. Gotta admit, salesman does sound a lot nicer than your actual SHSL title, doesn't it?"
(Unnecessary as this little jab may be, Madoka was still angry at Shimakage for what he's done, so she didn't feel too bad about it.)
Not soon afterwards, Osatsu appeared to be near a breakdown.
Truthfully speaking, she had been suspecting them heavily prior to Krampusuke's answer - after all, a lot of evidence pointed towards them and all these coincidences just seemed too good to be true. As for their behaviour, she already started to think that they might try to play psychological tricks on them - behave suspiciously, but then question everyone why they'd do so if they really were the killer. Wouldn't have been the first time that someone tried to pull this stunt on her, really.
However, this particular trail of thought wasn't worth pursuing anymore once it was revealed that neither of those who discovered the body could've done it - which immediately eliminated two out of their three initial main suspects, but given the existence of the secret room, another suspect emerged all the same. And thankfully, Utazawa also informed them from where the black cloth came from. It was good to know when it roughly went amiss - though given the time frame, it could've been literally anyone.
Either way, people started to address her again, so it was time to speak up once more. First off, Ootani asked her what she'd found in the lab herself, which she gladly shared:"There was a small blood splatter in the middle of the floor with stretched out satellites. It couldn't have come from Mukizu, as Osatsu already told us that Mukizu wasn't bloodied whatsoever. Thus, that leads to two possibilities - either the culprit stabbed Mukizu there and then transported him to the gift shop or the culprit themself is actually injured. Anyway, there was also a bloodied throwing knife, as well as Osatsu's gakuran, which was still wet. I also remember a suitcase with three additional throwing knives and five empty slots. Oh, and now that I think about it, there was also a gap in the middle of the clothes inside the dresser. They were all rather expensive... Like, what you'd expect the elite to wear and whatnot. Suits, evening gowns... all in varying sizes."
The detective cleared her throat, already tired of speaking so much, but alas, some things simply must be done, whether you wanted to do them or not. It wasn't something new to her, but it never got less tiresome.
When Osatsu waved at her and suggested to recount all alibis, Madoka nodded in agreement:"Yup. Best course of action that we have, really." And with that, Madoka inhaled deeply for a moment, before straightening up and doing just as was expected from her:"Right now, we know of three people who certainly couldn't have committed the crime; Komatsuzaki, Yanagi and Osatsu. Additionally, we can include everyone into this list who had been seen by others at 10 pm. If I remember correctly, Ootani was having a conversation with Yanagi in the kitchen when the murder was committed. Thus, he's automatically removed from the pool of suspects. Next up is the game group, which consisted of Hirase, Isayama, Utazawa, Yamamoto, Tenshin and Suzuki. They were all in the game room and even though Hirase and Suzuki did end up leaving it temporarily, they went to the kitchen which is on the first floor - so it couldn't have been any of them, either. As for the last group, it consisted of Ishida, Nagareboshi and me, who were having a discussion on the second floor of the library. Karamazov claimed to have been in the library the entire time as well, albeit on the first floor - however, neither of us saw her until it was 11 pm, so roughly 10 to 15 minutes after Osatsu found Mukizu's body inside the lab. Given the existence of the secret room with it's eavesdropping equipment, I'm afraid that she's a suspect now as well. After all, she could've easily listened to our conversation inside the secret room, which is most likely the actual crime scene as well."
Madoka allowed herself to take a breather there, eyeing Karina carefully. However, she also threw a glance towards Shimakage, before directing it to the entirety of the trial room again.
"All in all, it's gotta be either Karamazov or Shimakage who killed Mukizu. No two ways about that one, as they're the only ones who don't have an alibi. Or were part of the group finding the body."

🐧 ---
"It makes more sense if he was stabbed and then moved. When I discovered him, he had no injuries at all-- which is why it took me a bit to realize that he was, well, dead. Not to mention that the room that I discovered his body in was the Butler Research Lab, so the body was moved somehow. The stab on Mukizu's body were also post-mortem-- I spent five minutes on checking to see if he was dead, so I certainly know that those stab wounds were not there earlier."
A pause.
"...To add my two cents, I wouldn't really think that the victim would have fought back-- we'd probably notice something if that were the case. He might have been caught off guard before he did anything. Explains the expression."

Isayama had grimely looked down to the floor as she had heard Krampusuke's answer.
"Is that so...? Alright."
She expected it, but the grim reality hurted no less. She had paused herself from saying anything more until Osatsu had finished speaking. Once she had found her place again, she had chimed in.
"Mmm. Yes- it would sensible to assume Mukizo-san to been attacked by surprise... Considering the expression on his face. The culprit could had came up behind him and-"
A pause- and she had taken a deep breath as she had forced her body to stop shaking.
"Wrapped the cloth around then."
"I do not understand why they slashed Mukizo-san as they had, but maybe they did not consider that the file we would be given would reveal that Mukizo-san passed on by a lack of air."
Another pause.
"Maybe- maybe that was in fact a attempt to diverge us from finding the real murder weapon? Unfortunately that is my only guess as to why they slashed Mukizo-san with the knives after he passed on."
Then she had looked to Osatsu, a curious gaze had grown.
"Though it does make me wonder- if they known whether or not you ever entered the butler room before they moved the body to the gift shop- perhaps- they did use the secret room to hide themselves until you left. Although- that is both a wonder and a guess."

Honestly, Karina did appreciate Ootani’s gesture. She even placed a hand on the shoulder he patted and weakly smiled. As much as he probably meant well, it only made her feel even worse. Isayama’s and Ootani’s seemingly innocent and obvious nature to what the condition of her ribbon actually meant tugged a bit at her heart. How sad… To think there is still people like them in the world and here they are. Subjected to this. She hates this fact.
Slowly, everyone seemed to be piecing everything together. From where the cloth actually came from to how the murder must have went instead of Osatsu doing it. Well, she guess it’s time to address everyone’s questions and accusations.
Karina laid her ribbon across her podium and her lips curled to a small smile.
Her voice died down for a moment and her eyes glanced at Mukizu’s portrait. Her facial expression was unreadable, but by the way her hands settled and gripped her podium, there had to be something she felt.
She makes a small, quick gesture towards Osatsu, but doesn’t dare look at them.
That last line dripped of sarcasm, and she smirked a little. There was a little sense of pride she took in this plan. It was so well-thought out, and she nearly got away with it! However, that feeling quickly disappeared as soon as she remembered that she didn't kill the right one. She didn't kill the mastermind like she wanted. She killed an innocent person and that will never sit right with her.

Post by Shimakage Seitaro on Dec 14, 2017 22:40:08 GMT -5
If there was one thing Shimakage prided himself on, it was his ability to maintain a straight face against all odds. That was, after all, how he managed to be so convincing in his line of work, but when Marugou speaks - when she lets on that she just might know his true talent - his face almost pales. The key word, of course, is almost, because apart from an almost-imperceptible twitch of his lips - visible only to Hirase and Nagareboshi, certainly - Shimakage somehow manages to appear unfazed by her words. (But inside, his guts are boiling at the prospect of losing what would otherwise have been an easy payday, and his eyes flicker briefly in Yanagi's direction, as if to gauge his reaction, before he stares at Marugou.) What he doesn't expect, though, is for Karina to confess, and for the second time in the span of a few minutes, he's momentarily taken aback. He truly hadn't expected his comment about the ribbon to actually lead to anything. Moreover, Shimakage had been prepared to be sent to the gallows, especially after Marugou's offhand comment. If he's at all thankful for her confession, though, he doesn't show it; his face breaks out into a grin, and he shakes his head almost condescendingly.
