Post by Marugou Madoka on Dec 10, 2017 16:40:58 GMT -5
Merely an hour of investigation was definitely not enough to make a thorough inspection of all rooms. It was troubling, to say the least - she would've liked to search more, but alas, Krampusuke wasn't merciful enough to grant them more time. Thus, she simply had to do with what she'd found out - along with all the findings that her fellow classmates made. Hopefully, it would be enough to paint a clear picture of this murder, so they could be punished--
"If you manage to vote correctly, only the Blackened will be executed."
"But if you all vote for the wrong person, everyone but the Blacked will be executed."
Ah.
The stakes have just risen, haven't they? Logically speaking, this was an incredibly stupid move from their captor's side, but then again, who was she to reason with someone who was clearly rotten enough to permit such a thing to happen? It was best to leave these thoughts for later (if there would be a later, that is).
At the beginning, Madoka glanced to her right side, feeling her heart tightening a bit when she saw the empty podium besides her... with Muziku's crossed out portrait on it. Yet another thing that was entirely in poor taste and definitely didn't contribute to improve her mood whatsoever. The detective shook her head, focusing on the trial at hand now, simply observed the trials ongoings - absorbing every piece of information that was thrown around like a sponge. Her mind was constantly working with every new evidence or alibi being presented. Surprisingly enough, they were down to a small suspect pool already - she didn't think that anyone from any bigger groups would lie about someone's presence being there or not.
Eventually, she decided it was time to speak up.
"Neither of the groups have much of a reason to lie about their company, so our main suspects are, as Osatsu already stated, Komatsuzaki, Shimakage and them. No two ways about it, unless the plottwist of plottwists hits us straight in the face."
The detective gave a small shrug, before continuing on:"Anyway, there's something important that I have to share with you all - I met Mukizu in the foyer at 9:20 pm, where he was inspecting the locked room's door. We chatted for a bit - like 10 minutes or so - and when I invited him to tag along with me to go to the library, he declined, saying that he had business to attend at 10 pm."
(A small part of her couldn't help but feel guilty to not have been more persuasive about it.)
"... So there's a possibility that he intended to meet someone - and I would be surprised if it wasn't the killer themself."
The detective decided to jump back to her alibi, though it was held shortly:"Afterwards, I met Nagareboshi at the staircase and we chatted, too. Then Shimakage butted in-", (was it just you or was there a hint of annoyance, if not even contempt in her voice?),"and we left for the library. Ishida was already waiting for us when we arrived at 9:50 pm and ever since then, we had a discussion that went for an entire hour. Karamazov already stated how we were a little bit spooked by her dropping her book and the rest is history."
Finally, her alibi was out in the open, so she could finally start on focusing on other matters that piqued her curiousity--
"We know that Osatsu claims to have found the body inside the Butler Research Lab - now I want to know who the next two people were who discovered the body. When exactly did you find the body? Was it 11:15 pm or sooner? Did you see anyone else on your way to the gift shop? Oh and when did the next people come after you? Was it only seconds? A minute or even more? That could prove to be very vital information."
And surprisingly enough, her head turned to Krampusuke, eyes unreadable as she stated her question:"The body announcement rang when most of us have been already present at the crime scene. You stated yourself that it would take three or more people to trigger it, right? Just to not leave any lingering doubts; would the killer also count among those or not?"

As soon as the announcement rings that investigation was over, Yanagi allowed himself to zone out, trying to gather his thoughts and cope. He didn't want to think of the corpse any longer, but watching Shimakage compare Mukizu's wounds to the knife made him feel sick to his stomach. He allowed himself to be dragged along to the trial, allowed himself to file into his proper place, and stayed relatively silent as the others discussed. It was easy to stay quiet, here, and a small part of him worried that speaking up would only make him more suspicious, thanks to being alone save for spotting a few others before finally meeting Komatsuzaki.
However, his silence is slowly tested as subtle, quiet accusations fly, and his eyebrows furrow.
(Let everyone else figure it out.)
Finally, though, his gaze lands on Shimakage, who only contributes to the passive accusations that fly, and he manages to find the peace of mind to speak up, voice oddly calm considering the turn of events that had plagued him throughout the day.
"... Komatsuzaki-san couldn't have moved the body. I... I saw Osatsu-san going upstairs just before 10, I think, and... Hm." He pauses, quietly peering at the comedian with an unnervingly calm glance before clearing his throat and continuing.
"... Hm. But we only heard the scream a little bit before eleven. I don't know... If getting changed would normally take nearly an hour, but... Uh. Besides, if Osatsu-san discovered the body in the Butler Research Lab, as they say... Uh. It was only about twenty minutes before Komatsuzaki-san and I found the body. I don't... Know if that's enough time for someone to move a corpse and, for the most part, clear evidence."
He shuffles, somewhat awkwardly, before quietly placing his throwing knife on his podium, once remembering that he had it. It probably wouldn't bode well to conceal a knife similar to one that was used in the murder on his person.
"Ah, Madoka-chan. Uh, as I said, Komatsuzaki-san and I found him, uh, after Osatsu-san. She actually saw him before I did, but I think it was just... Almost 11:15. Maybe a minute or so, give or take. The, uh, the only person we saw on our way there was, hm. Osatsu-san. ... I hope that, uh, answers your questions."

š§ --- Osatsu nods once in response to Komatsuzakiās answer, before going quiet to let others have their turn speaking. They settled into their thoughts during this time, halfheartedly listening to everyone else while wondering about things. Most likely, they were dark, but there was the occasional wonder on what food theyād like to eat later after this is all overāor well, if it did.
When Shimakage mentioned seeing them, they snap out of their thoughts almost immediately. Thereās a very reserved sigh that comes from them after saying all of that, as they lean against the podium, using their hand as something for their head to lean on. An exaggerated sigh comes from them, as they straighten and fix their posture. They trail off for a moment, before letting a clearly amused grin grow on their face. Hey?? Hey?? Osatsu?? They make a gesture with a hand, and has the audacity to utter: Auuuuuuuuugh. --- š§

Blink, blink, blink.
It didn't really take long for Ootani to start spacing out-- especially when he had all this information to digest. It looked like he had been fighting against spacing out, but his own mind won out anyways, wandering until someone had addressed him. Though, it did take a little bit to realize he was being called upon.
(.....Ah, so they were calling on me.)
The architect tries to think back on what exactly he had missed during his fight against his own spaced out mind, before raising an eyebrow at the comedian.
(.....Wait, what am I supposed to be saying?)
He lightly scratches his cheek before reaching for his notepad and flipping through it--
".....Oh, you mean the secret room behind the painting, right?" Great, he can finally talk about that, "I've been wanting to talk about that for a while..., but ah-- Isayama-san, Osatsu-san, and I discovered that there's a button behind the giant painting in the Butler's Research Lab, that if pressed, will lead to a secret room filled with screens."
Inhale, exhale.
"We investigated the room-- finding out that there are around thirty three screens, eleven of which are broken. In front of the screens, was a table that had an earpiece and a remote on it."
"Along with the table and screen, there were also boxes in the room, which Isayama-san looked through while Osatsu-san and I fiddled with the remote and earpiece." He wanted to continue, but he felt that it would better to go at it slow, instead of laying all the evidence out.

Krampusuke turns to look towards Marugou. He paused for a few moments, as if he was a bit unsure of what to say. He put his paw beneath his muzzle a bit quizzically.
He looks down, a little pouty.

Isayama had soon piped up when Ootani had finished speaking.
"Oh, yes! The boxes- the boxes."
She had straightened herself out before continuing.
"Um- from what I could tell- the boxes had many unused, and clean- easily hideable cameras in them."
A pause.
"Also- it did not seem like a person could fit in the boxes as a cat could. At least we know now that the killer could not have sneaked up to Mukizo-san that way, right?"
She had offered her class a friendly smile as she had gone to eventually drift her gaze to Osatsu.
"Osatsu-san, if I may so ask, do you remember if any of the screens had labels on them, for which room they shown? I am afraid I do not quite remember if they did- but I thought it might help us figure out a motive of sorts since, eleven screens were broken..."
Her face expressed a gentle plead as she had asked the comedian for a little help with remembering. A sweat drop dripped from her face as her pleading turned slowly into a nervous smile. Not too long did it take for her gaze to turn to Krampusuke. She had paused for a moment to think. Then finally she had voiced a concern.
"If that is true... Then Shimakage-san-"
She had stopped herself, letting the rest of what she were about to say fall into a faded void. She had looked carefully towards Shimakage, amd gentle asked them a question.
"Shimakage-san, are you sure you do not have anyone else to include in your alibi- someone who surely, can vouch for your whereabouts during ten PM? Surely- there must be someone..."
She had a mixture of worry and genuine concern for her peer. A minute later she had looked back to all her peers.
"Maybe- maybe there is a piece of evidence were forgetting. Did everyone present everything that could be found?"
She had quickly continued on.
"Should we go back to the topic of what could have been used against Mukizo-san, that resulted in the mark left on his neck, as in, was there anything to be found in all the rooms that were investigated- that could leave such a mark?"
She had not been ready to point fingers, not yet, not until- not until all of them were absolutely sure.

Shimakage isn't entirely surprised to hear his name leave Isayama's lungs. In all truth, he had expected to come under suspicion for his lack of alibi, but where a normal student might fall into a cold sweat at the thought of being accused, Shimakage feels...nothing. Not an ounce of worry, nor panic, not even a twinge of excitement. Instead, he cocks his head to the side, almost as though questioning whether or not he had heard the shrine maiden properly. He pauses, thoughtfully stroking the end of his scarf before tacking on one final thought:

Karina slowly nodded at Osatsuās response. Now that didnāt help matters. They didnāt see anyone elseā¦ Thatās really unfortunate for them. It makes her pity the comedian.
For awhile she simply listened to the others speak, taking into consideration of every word spoken, when that one snippet out of the detectiveās statements stood out to her. So much so she quietly repeated it to herself and furrowed her eyebrows. It bothered her, but she had no intention of sharing her thoughts. That would be a hassle.
A soft gasp escaped Karinaās lips, bringing up both of her hands to cover her mouth, at the reveal of a secret room off of the Butler Research Lab. Her look of surprise lasted for a moment before twisting to one of pure disgust, which also oozed into her tone of voice.
She scoffed and shook her head. Her irritation only furthered after Krampusuke spoke up and basically cleared Osatsu. That would leave only one person in the suspect lineup. The ballerina eyed Shimakage carefully, hummed, and then found herself calming down. Slowly she eased back into that usual neutral look of hers.
Karina pauses for a moment. She took a deep breath before continuing.
She muttered that last comment and wondered if that sounded a little too weird. Eh, oh well. Maybe he wouldn't catch that or care.

Post by Yanagi Tsuneo on Dec 11, 2017 20:48:10 GMT -5
After hearing everyone continue to talk, Yanagi brings a hand to his forehead in frustration. The conversation had derailed- derailed to a small detail, and finally, he taps his hand on his podium. Not loud enough to cause a scene, but almost as though he was pounding a gavel, like he was pretending he was a judge.
"It wasn't Shimakage-san. You're jumping on the fact that he doesn't have an alibi, which could be said for a lot of people. Um. But you're clearly ignoring the fact that Osatsu-san's timeline doesn't add up. Komatsuzaki-san can help me here- if Osatsu-san was really the first one to discover the body in the Research Lab, just before eleven... That's only giving whoever moved the body less than twenty minutes to move the body and disappear before Komatsuzaki-san and I arrived upstairs. That doesn't make sense."
He sighs, rubbing his temples, before clicking his tongue and folding his arms. It was frustrating, having to talk this much, but defending someone he knew was innocent was the right thing to do. It was what he had to do, in order to catch the actual criminal, and if it meant stepping out of his comfort zone and creating a larger target for himself, then so be it.
"Even if the room that Osatsu-san and Ootani-san conveniently mentioned exists, how would the person who moved the body- presumably the, er, killer- hide there without anyone finding them? Does no one else.. mm. Does no one else think it's oddly convenient that the one of the only people to find this room is, also, er... The person who first discovered the body and didn't tell anyone?"
He bites his lip, suddenly uncomfortable, and frowns again, once more retracting into himself like a strange, nervous turtle.

Shimakage may not feel concern over the thought of being accused, but he's quick to realize that that doesn't mean he needs to bend to their wills, either. When Karina suggests he empty his pockets, he glances down at his right pants leg as though contemplating it for a few moments before raising his head and taking on an uncharacteristic scowl.

Due to the fact they were trial neighbors, he ended up catching Karina's mumbling, but he doesn't bring any attention it due to having to talk about the secret room. Though, once he's finished, he turns his head to the right-- raising an eyebrow at Karina.
He was just about to ask her about her mumbling-- but was immediately interrupted by her asking to share more about the screens, alongside the remote and earpiece.
Clearing his throat, he nods before looking down at his notes.
"Osatsu-san handled the remote while I used the earpiece, it turns out that the remote controls which rooms you can listen into, using the earpiece. However, if someone were to switch to one of the broken screens, you wouldn't hear anything at all."
"Also, we could only get the numbers of the screens, but not what rooms they were, so i'm not sure knowing which numbers are broken would really help..."
Once Yanagi says his piece, he looks over at him, a little bit at a loss for words, it seems. Placing a hand on his chin-- the architect closes his eyes.
"Hmm..." He decides to stay silent for the time being.

Isayama had thrown a confused stare towards Yanagi, as gentle as her expression was, she did not seem to understand something.
With a soft tone, she had calmy spoken up.
"Yanagi-san, forgive me if I am not understanding correctly, but would that also not make sense?"
Her gaze had turned nervous as she had tried to apologize for her lack of mutual understanding.
"Again, I apologize for my lack of thought if I have not understood what you said, but wouldn't it contradict what Krampusuke-sensei said before?"
She had twiddled her thumbs together.
"Um- I mean- if Osatsu-san was telling the truth about finding the body first."
"Well. If he did find it first- would that not confirm he is innocent based on what Krampusuke-sensei said, as in, all the first three students who found the body could be heavily considered innocent?"
She had paused to take in a deep breath before continuing.
"If what Krampusuke-sensei said is true, and Osatsu-san lied about finding the body first- then who was the first?"
Maybe she was missing a point, but she had truly wanted to understand where Yanagi been coming from.
Eventually her gaze had drifted to Osatsu, gentle as ever.
"I am sure you must have your reasons for keeping quiet about finding the body, but if I may ask, just this once, could you explain why you kept silent for so long? I think if everyone knows a little more- then we can understand and move on."
She had smiled, not brightly, but not so dimly either.
She had absolutely no idea what she was doing, but she been trying nonetheless.

tw: a joke about child abuse (like, implied beating), basically extremely dark jokes, (to the tune of that one vine) im sorry classš§--- Despite everythingāOsatsu couldnāt believe that the spotlight was somehow still on themself. It baffled them to some extent, almost stunning them into absolute silence at hearing everyone turn on themāeven after what the mascot said should have cleared them. And yet, despite the pressure being raised, they manage to keep their cryptic smile on their face. They tried to speak upābut was soon shut down by other people piling onto the suspicion pile. Maybe it was because they were baffled. Or maybe, just maybe, they were just a little bit overwhelmed by it. After all, theyāve never been in some form of a murder court before. The onlyā¦ well, now thatās just too intrusive to think about, huh. "Um- I mean- if Osatsu-san was telling the truth about finding the body first."
āDoes no one else think it's oddly convenient that the one of the only people to find this room is, also, er... The person who first discovered the body and didn't tell anyone?āIf? Donāt even try to think weād believe you, freak.
Their expected laugh got caught in their throat at the quiet echo of a voice from long ago, a cough interrupting what they were going to say. It was hard, to them, to talk for some reason. They weren't sure, but something about hearing that paranoid echo was-- well-- sort of a reminder. (Humans are all shitty either way.) The fear of others hearing a slight tremble in their voice made them silent for a moment, before clearing up their throat once or twice. Oh, Osatsuāyou canāt think back now. A laugh escapes them, despite making a joke of something extremely horrible. Thereās a sudden change in their demeanor after saying that, a natural looking smile growing on their face. It was almost a little creepy, really. They adjust their glasses for a bit, before looking up and over at the ceiling, as if trying to remember. A chuckle. There wasn't even a pause to let Ootani respond-- they just kept on going. A pause. --- š§

Isayama had nodded, and slipped to a small gentle expression as Osatau had finished speaking. A light bulb had lit itself in her head as she had remembered something.
"Ah- Right! Just before the announcement, there was a noise many of the people in the game room heard-your screaming must have been the noise we had heard, so if we match the timelines up- it would exactly fit. I hold no doubts about it."
Thanks Isayama.

A sigh of relief is released, and Ootani finally lets himself relax for a bit upon Osatsu speaking.
If they had continued to stay silent any longer, he's fairly certain he would have started yelling at the others to be quiet. And he didn't exactly want that to happen, so he's thankful.
But..., as he watches the comedian speak, he can't help but feel a bit uneasy. Especially when they coughed in the middle of their laughter, are they going to be okay? Maybe he should talk with them later or something...
Placing his left hand on his right arm-- never lifting the right arm up-- he listens to Osatsu's alibi, nodding once they had asked him what they had down before the announcement came up. it wasn't until they finished did he finally raise his hand.
"Yes, you did eat something, you ate an entire orange while spacing out," He clears his throat before continuing, "Eating aside-- that cloth is.. strange-- though-- I've been thinking on this. But did anyone ever think to see if it fit the ring around Mukizu-kun's neck?"
"I mean-- I could be wrong, it could absolutely have been left there to throw us all off.., but I just thought it'd be a possibility."

It doesn't take long for Shimakage to settle back into his characteristically carefree demeanor. Perhaps it's because the attention has shifted off of him and back onto Osatsu, or perhaps it's because he's growing less and less confident in their ability to solve this murder. Regardless, he flashes the class a peaceful smile.

"Hm...." He places his left hand on his chin.
"It's.., possible, that it could be from someone's clothes--"
And before he could continue, Shimakage shifts the focus to Karina-- but Ootani doesn't seem angry about it, if anything, he's surprised.
"Did she have some black cloth around her leg..? I don't remember such a thing."

š§ --- Feeling less tense about, well, existing for starters, Osatsu gave themself a little bit of time to sit back and chill out for a good second, rethink everything now that they were cleared. Hopefully, that is to say. They quietly hummed to themself as they let their thoughts wander, before being abruptly interrupted at one particular detail in someone's response.
"...Karina-san did have a black cloth tied around her leg last time I remembered- though that was a time way before the motive, really. Though if you don't remember seeing one... hm."
Theres a thoughtful pause that comws after that, before they glance over at where Karina stood in the trial.
"Well, Karina-san. Is it still around your leg. We would like to eliminate or confirm loose ends here."

Isayama pipes up again for whatever number time this is.
"Oh! Yes, Karina-san did have a black cloth- somewhat like a ribbon I suppose.. around her leg, if I am remembering correctly...."
She starts to notice the tide change of accusations- and looks nervously towards Karina.
"Though I am sure you still have it on you, right, Karina-san?"
She does not want to blame her peers dor killing a student, but at this point, she could not help that, could she?
She whispers, silently.
"Although if it is missing..."
She looks down to the fall, words slipping silent as she feels a weight on her sholders.
She had not continued on with her sentence, but did try to change subject to ask the other girl for more information.
"Just to be sure- Karina-san, what were you doing before ten PM, was there anyone to vouch for your whereabouts then?"
She had tried to smile gentle, despite how she had known accusing her own question had sounded.
