🐧 --- The library was quiet, and Osatsu liked it. While they found it entertaining and comforting to be surrounded by other people, given their talent, there were some times that they needed to settle down with a good book, and let them get lost in the world of literature. Unfortunately, they weren't having the best of times with finding a good book to say the least, as they mostly came across things that generally... didn't interest them at all. Though, hearing the sound of someone walking into the library was enough to interrupt their hunt for a book and casually glance over at the entrance. At the sight of who it was, they just couldn't help but to address this person. After all, how could they possibly not talk to the man the myth the legend? Or well, in more clearer terms, the other person who was under heavy fire during the trial other than the technical culprit? There's a pause between their statements as they delicately take a book out from the shelf that they were already next to, taking a second to observe the back and the cover before continuing in a rather... unsettling tone, without glancing over at the golfer even once. Sorry Ishida. --- 🐧

Takane winced slightly at the voice addressing him when he entered the library. He'd hoped that the place would be empty, and he could grab a book to take back to his own room quickly. Since the end of the trial, he'd decided that spending too long outside of the safety of his room was asking for trouble, and it appeared he was right. The comedian had greeted him with scathing words, and hadn't looked his way at all after an initial glance to see who had come in. He wouldn't show any more discomfort, though. That would be conceding defeat, and he couldn't afford to show any more weakness for the rest of his stay here. He took to the closest shelf and began perusing the variety of titles laid out before him, copying Osatsu by not looking their way.
"Osatsu-san. I don't have anything to hide, least of all myself. I'm not stupid, I know that I'm in danger just walking around now, but I'm not going to be hiding for the rest of my life. I'm also not going to be insulting anyone's intelligence. I understand that nobody smart would trust me for even a second after what came out during that trial, and I'm not going to act otherwise. I won't be taken for some cornered rat, though. I'll do whatever I have to to continue on here, and I've already shown myself capable of backing up that claim."
He stopped speaking to pull a book out of the shelf he was looking through, checked the back of it, and tucked it under his arm.
"I think anyone would be the same in my position. Unwilling to yield even if every other person in this lodge thinks the worst of me."

🐧 --- There's a light-hearted chuckle that comes out of them at Ishida's response as they open up the book in their hands, idly scanning the pages with half-closed eyes. Flip. They continue to flip through pages before coming to a halt. Suddenly, they close their book. --- 🐧

Something about Osatsu felt really bothersome to Takane. He didn't think Osatsu would do anything rash here—someone was surely surveying right now, after all—and they were probably just trying to get a reaction out of him, but something in Takane told him to keep cautious anyways. It was the smart thing to do no matter who he was talking to, right? He turned towards Osatsu and nodded once before speaking.
"Maybe I just assumed better out of the people here than I should have. Not in any benevolent way, but just that I thought that nobody here would make such pitiful moves. I don't care much whether you applaud me or not, there's nothing for me or anyone else here to gain from my regrets. It doesn't mean I don't have them, but wasting my energy on them instead of trying to figure out my next move is foolish. It might also be that I still resent the stance everyone else took against me at the end of the trial, where I was accused of relying on everything I had handed to me. The one truth to this place is that no matter what our previous circumstances were, we might as well have been reborn into new circumstances where we're all on an even playing field, aside from our friend the mastermind."
Takane folded his arms, taking care not to drop the book that was previously tucked under one, and his gaze hardened a bit.
"If we're all fighting for our lives, I have to survive. There's no other acceptable result for me. That's all there is to say on that matter. I'll chat with you, Osatsu-san, depending on just what you'd like to chat about."

🐧 --- They almost seem to pause at the end of their statement for Ishida to respond, but they interrupted it with an unsettling giggle, as they hid their supposed smile behind the book that they held with a hand. After saying that, they seem to shift gears entirely from the topic, with their eyes lazily scanning the nearby shelf. --- 🐧
