Shimakage nods, quietly, agreeing with each and every word that falls from Yanagi's lips. Slowly, he rakes his hair through one of the sections of hair that hangs down from his ponytail, humming thoughtfully to himself. He knows, intellectually, that he could have chosen his words better - telling someone to shut up is no way to stay on their good side - but Yanagi's self-deprecation could stand to stop (especially when it's unwarranted). Still, the other boy doesn't seem to react too terribly, so Shimakage is courteous enough to listen. Once Yanagi finishes, however, Shimakage extends his hand and flicks him right in the middle of the forehead. Gently, he places his hands on Yanagi's hips and, using the water to help, lifts Yanagi up and onto the edge of the pool. Shimakage, however, doesn't follow suit, preferring instead to rest his arms on the pool edge and look up at Yanagi whilst still in the water.

Shimakage had an uncanny way of making Yanagi laugh, even when every time he closed his eyes he could only see Karina and Mukizu's bodies. It's a soft laugh, nervous and tenative, but a laugh nonetheless. His arms fold across his chest, but it hardly looks defensive- it's only so he can lean forward a little and laugh, shaking his head.
"I don't even remember my parents. M- Maybe I lived in a box, on the street. They- they think they're suffering because they miss their parents," he laughs, shaking his head. "Try not even knowing who they are."
When he's flicked, Yanagi jerks backwards, surprised by how much it hurt, considering the small gesture, and he stares at Shimakage with furrowed brows until Shimakage finally elaborates, leaving Yanagi genuinely frowning at him, until he's picked up, and he nearly flails before realizing he could knock Shimakage over, so he pauses in his panic to stare blankly at the other boy until he's placed on the edge of the pool, leaning his elbows onto his knees in order to stare at him with a sigh.
"It's just... What if there's stuff I should remember? Important stuff? It's stupid, it's naive, to keep holding onto something I'll never get back, but I- I can't help but want it, Shimakage-kun," he mumbles, trying to switch honorifics as quietly as he can so as not to cause a scene. "But if there's really, really nothing I can do, then you're right, I may as well accept it and try to make new memories, try to figure out who I am in the present-" But he finally frowns, shoulders slumping, and for just a second, he looks small.
"My head just feels so empty, Shimakage-kun."

Part of Shimakage wonders if Yanagi is hurting himself with the jokes he tells. They do, after all, draw upon his amnesia, and he's made it painfully clear that it isn't a laughing matter. Nevertheless, he seems to be trying to make him smile, so Shimakage obliges, curling the corners of his lips up into an amused smirk. But then Yanagi begins to pour his heart out, and Shimakage hums thoughtfully as the other boy speaks. The change in honorific doesn't slip by him, and his lips twist up into a smirk as he purrs contentedly. Yanagi barely has time to finish his sentence before Shimakage reaches up, placing his palm on the back of Yanagi's neck and pulling him down into another kiss. A chuckle.

For a few moments, Yanagi feels nervous, nervous that he isn't funny- which is stupid, he had so much more to worry about beyond impressing Shimakage- but he does smile, he does laugh, and Yanagi's shoulders slump with relief, another easy laugh falling from his lips as he grins up at Shimakage.
"They're teenagers, Shimakage-kun," he laughs, face scrunching up in an uncharacteristic show of emotion, for just a heartbeat. "Do you really think any of them- any of us, for that matter- are really that law-abiding?"
The second he's kissed again, Yanagi is slightly more prepared- albeit, not very. He still flounders, still stares, still gawks- and when it's over, it takes all of his composure not to lean after Shimakage, chasing his lips- so instead, he sits upright with a small huff, cheeks burning red as ever and his eyes, wide and doe-eyed. He wants to ask Shimakage why he keeps kissing him, what he sees in him, if there's any benefit- but suddenly, he's afraid of ruining the moment, of making Shimakage realize just what a loser he is, so he keeps mum, instead opting to speak when he's spoken to.
"Even emptier than before, Shimakage-kun, but, in a good way this time," he mumbles.
Once again, he's lectured about having fun and letting loose, being who he is- and while a part of him still wants to argue, that part is smaller now, being shot down by Yanagi's newfound bravado, newfound confidence in Shimakage's words, and after a moment of quiet, shy staring at the taller boy, Yanagi propels himself off of the edge of the pool, jumping into the water, and grabs Shimakage's hands.
"If you want me to have fun so bad, Shimakage-kun, show me how. Maybe I don't remember how to have fun, right?"
