Shimakage nods, quietly, agreeing with each and every word that falls from Yanagi's lips. Slowly, he rakes his hair through one of the sections of hair that hangs down from his ponytail, humming thoughtfully to himself.
He knows, intellectually, that he could have chosen his words better - telling someone to shut up is no way to stay on their good side - but Yanagi's self-deprecation could stand to stop (especially when it's unwarranted). Still, the other boy doesn't seem to react too terribly, so Shimakage is courteous enough to listen. Once Yanagi finishes, however, Shimakage extends his hand and flicks him right in the middle of the forehead.
Gently, he places his hands on Yanagi's hips and, using the water to help, lifts Yanagi up and onto the edge of the pool. Shimakage, however, doesn't follow suit, preferring instead to rest his arms on the pool edge and look up at Yanagi whilst still in the water.
"Being homesick is such a first-world problem anyway, you know? 'Boo hoo, I'm living in a nice, warm lodge, but it's not everything I've ever dreamed of! I miss my mommy!' I was in jail before this. My mom is dead. Excuse me if I don't exactly feel any sympathy."

"Dummy. We'll figure it out. Besides, I'm not always reminiscing on my past. You know what I'm thinking about right now? You. Whether I remember it or not, my past will never change. And one day, when I get older, I'll probably forget about a lot of stuff. So I'm going to enjoy this moment while it lasts."

"Just allow yourself to shut off for a little while. Stressing about your memories won't bring them back. You're young. You're cute. We should be having fun."
